With the start of February, some of you are having a hard time keeping up with the winter cold and spend time daydreaming about a vacation instead of listening attentively in class. Luckily, this year McGill University & the City of Montreal had an awesome joint idea to address your needs: an on-campus vacation with the creation of an ocean surrounding all the buildings! I know… the sun wasn’t at the rendezvous and the water was a bit cold, but wasn’t it a pleasant surprise?
Alright, I’ll stop making bad jokes about the situation. I sincerely hope that none of you got hurt last Monday during the flood. A few nursing grad students and I were in fact stuck in the RU during the incident and had to walk knee-deep in water (almost swim) our way out of the building! Unfortunately, Wilson Hall was in no need of another flood, which have been occurring increasingly often, almost bi-annually now. Here are the latest news: there has been extensive damage to the building, and the basement will most likely remained closed-off for the rest of the semester. Hopefully, the flood situation might speed up the eventual complete re-haul of Wilson Hall… I’m trying to be positive here! In the meantime, the Research Unit is still fully operational, and we will continue to provide our grad students will all the usual services in this safe-heaven of ours!
Enjoy reading this issue of the weekly NGSA newsletter; I’ll get back to you next week. FYI: In order to keep you informed in a timely manner, as of now on the NGSA weekly newsletter will be published every Sunday night.
Have a wonderful week!
