NGSA by-elections: Represent your class!

The NGSA is holding by-elections on September 17 for the various student class representative positions. Responsibilities include:

  • communicating classmates’ thoughts and ideas to the NGSA Council meetings and Student Faculty Advisory Committee
  • promoting events through class announcements (through social media and/or in-class)
  • being the representative for your class if any needs arise

We are looking for the following positions:
QY: 1 or 2 representatives
MSc1 DE: 1 or 2 representatives
MSc2 DE: 1 or 2 representatives
MSc1 NE: 1 or 2 representatives
MSc2 NE: 1 NE rep, 1 Pediatric NP rep, 1 Primary care NP rep, 1 Mental Health NP rep & 1 Neonatal NP rep
If more than two candidates apply, a class vote will be held to chose your two representatives.

Join the Faculty of Medicine Terry Fox Run team

McGill’s Faculty of Medicine is forming an inter-professional team for this annual event. Fundraising is optional, and running is too! Strolling and walking your dog very welcome. Bring your friends and wear something McGill or red and white. Last year the team had over 250 participants (the largest team in Montreal history) and raised nearly $10,000!

Welcoming Indigenous students in health professions

The Indigenous Health Professions Program (IHPP) aims to recruit and support all Indigenous students and improve teaching and learning about Indigenous health collaboratively across faculties of dentistry, medicine (which includes nursing), nutrition, and social work.

All Indigenous (first nations, Inuit, and Métis) students in these schools are invited to connect with the team at indigenous.health@mcgill.ca.

A Welcoming Dinner for the community will be held
Thursday, October 4 at 18:00
Open to all new and returning Indigenous students, faculty, and staff in the health professions programs.

Blood donations needed

Support the McGill Medical Students’ Society blood drive! In Québec, someone needs blood every 80 seconds. Donors are allowed to give blood as frequently as every 56 days.

Donate on Monday, Sept. 10 to Thursday, Sept. 13 from 9:30-16:00

Learn or perfect your French for clinical settings

The Faculty of Medicine gives a Medical French Conversation Course to provide the language skills required to interact with francophone patients and their families. Classes take place Saturday mornings.

VOICE seeking Research Assistant

VOICE (Views On Interdisciplinary Childhood Ethics), an interdisciplinary team of researchers at McGill, is conducting a one‐year study of a community social development program for youths in Montreal under the direction of Franco Carnevale, PhD.  They are hiring one research assistant, fluent in French and English, to assist with recruitment of research participants, data collection and analysis.
