New mindfulness group for students in need
This fall, Mindful & Compassionate McGill is launching a Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) group for students who experience depression and/or anxiety. MBCT is proven to be an effective therapy to help people better manage their emotions and negative thinking patterns. It also provides an opportunity to learn about and practice mindfulness in a safe environment. Students will be placed in the group after a brief screening interview.
A 2-hour session will be held once a week over 5 consecutive weeks starting November 7th.

WELL Office recruiting advisory council members
The Wellness Advisory Council is a new WELL Office initiative and is currently recruiting student representatives from Nursing, PT, OT, and Communication Sciences at both the undergraduate and graduate level. This council is an inter-professional forum in which students meet and discuss wellness and healthy learning needs and initiatives. As an Advisory Council member, you will be responsible for bringing to the table the thoughts and needs expressed by your cohort. It will require a commitment of attending two annual meetings, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.
If you are interested in this Council, please send a short statement with the reason of your interest to: firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, October 31st along with your answer to the following two questions:
What would you bring to an Interprofessional Healthy Learning Council?
Please tell us of an experience you had when you contributed to a Healthy Learning Environment?
